Valeo Japan was established at the end of 1985. Home to world leading automotive manufacturers, Japan plays an important role in the development of the Group. It has a large number of efficient production sites, Research and Development excellence centers, and well-trained employees.
Today, Valeo has expanded with 3 different companies in Japan – Valeo Japan, Valeo Kapec Japan and Ichikoh industries.

All Valeo Business Groups are present in Japan and offer innovative solutions that contribute to reduce CO2?emissions, develop autonomous driving, and make smarter cars.?
Kohnan is an important production and Research & Development center for Valeo in its Thermal Systems Business Group.? Operating a hot and cold climatic wind tunnel, Valeo Japan designs innovative air-conditioning equipment. The Kohnan R&D team also develops original air quality products and has set up a test car equipped with the latest Thermal well-being Solutions.
Tsukuba is the heart of the development of the autonomous driving technologies for the Valeo Comfort & Driving Assistance System Business Group in Japan. Valeo’s automated driving car, created by Valeo team in Tsukuba, successfully completed a “Hands-Off Japan Tour” in October 2018.?
Powertrain System Business Group has a production and R&D site in Atsugi, where Valeo made the first Torque Converter in May 2006. Today, the Japanese team also works on electrification by developing a 48V EV demo car jointly with Gunma University.
